ULTRADYNE
Pi Gao Movement / DETROIT

The mysterious Ultradyne has been making some of the more interesting and unique electronic music to grace a turntable. Originating from Detroit, this is music that does not belong to any regional pigeonhole. Releasing the first EP {E-Coli} on Warp, there has been a multitude of releases since 1995 to present. All quality, with even the strangest and most impenetrable tracks on first listen finally emerging to be diamonds in the rough. Presently Ultradyne releases only on their own label - Pi Gao Movement - which allows them to produce their specific brand of electronic music. As with any devout artist nothing is as it seems. Aside from the music; their costumes, artwork, song titles, and lyrics are additional areas to get lost in as even a typeface could mean something. Basically, like all the best things, you have to make an effort with this group. The fact that Ultradyne normally lets the music do all the talking and is rarely unmasked has not done them any harm in the development of a strong cult following around the world. What is Ultradyne? "The perfect machine - not one of nuts and bolts but a machine of ideas. Everything has evolved from an idea. The wheel has evolved into automobiles and from automobiles who knows what else will be created. Musically we put forth ideas that will evolve into something larger eventually creating a movement. A movement of progress. So progress with the progressive"
